Wupatki National Monument

  • Pueblo dwellings and various hikes among the red rocks are the big draw to this indigenous-oriented monument.

  • The park road is open daily, year-round. Trails and pueblos are open year-round, from sunrise to sunset and there are a variety of hikes available. There may be road closures for extreme weather (call ahead or check the website).

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument

  • This national monument offers a 34-mile scenic loop offering gorgeous views of the red rocks and painted desert vistas.

Walnut Canyon National Monument

  • There’s a reason Walnut Canyon is a destination for backpacking, camping, and hiking with its variety: from cliff dwelling ruins to tree-filled trails and the mountain backdrop. Great destination for families and the more adventurous.
